Master Cylinder
Some vehicles use a conventional tandem master cylinder with two hydraulic pistons operating in-line. The primary piston controls the front brake system and the secondary piston controls the rear brake system.
Other models use a master cylinder that operates the same as the conventional master cylinder, but also incorporates a quick take-up feature in the rear chamber to reduce excessive pedal travel which may result from increased fluid displacement required to move the low drag caliper piston out against the rotor.

- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove wheel and tire assembly.
- Remove drive axle center cap, if equipped.
- Insert a drift or large screwdriver through brake caliper into one of the brake rotor vanes in order to prevent drive axle wheel drive shaft from turning.
- Remove nut and washer from hub. Do not reuse nut. A new nut must be used when installing wheel drive shaft.
- Using J 45859 or equivalent, press wheel drive shaft from hub.

- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Remove mounting bolts and engine shield, if required.
- Remove mounting bolts and oil pan skid plate, if required.
- Remove righthand transmission cover bolt.
- Remove front axle mounting bracket nut, then position front axle mounting bracket bolt until tip is flush with support bushing. Do not remove bolt.
- Remove mounting bolts and slide starter forward until it clears transmission.

When the TPMS detects a significant loss of tire pressure, the CHECK TIRE PRESSURE message is displayed on the DIC and the low tire pressure indicator is displayed on the IPC. Adjusting tire to recommended pressure will clear the tire message.
Relearn
- Apply the Parking brake, then place the ignition switch in the On position.
- Cycle the headlamp switch from Off to Parking Lamp position 4 times within 4 seconds.
- The horn should chirp twice and the low tire pressure warning indicator should begin to flash indicating the system is in the learn mode.
