When removing or servicing the propeller shaft, never allow shaft to drop or hang from universal joints. Suspend shafts to the underside of the vehicle using suitable wire, Fig. .
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove exhaust system.
- Remove center exhaust heat shield retaining nuts, then heat shield.
- Remove rear transmission tunnel support bracket bolts, then support bracket.
- Support transmission using suitable jack stand.
- Remove transmission mount and transmission crossmember retaining bolts, then crossmember.

Front
Halfshaft inner and outer boots are not serviceable separately. Boot replacement requires entire shaft assembly replacement.
Lefthand halfshaft is shorter than right. Identify and tag halfshafts upon removal to ensure proper installation.
- Raise and support vehicle, then remove tire and wheel assembly.
- While holding link ball joint stem from rotating, remove stabilizer link to shock clevis bracket nut.
- Slide link ball joint stem from clevis bracket.
- Remove clevis bracket to bottom of shock nut and pinch bolt.
- Remove shock clevis bracket to lower control arm nut and bolt.
