This procedure describes a propeller shaft equipped with a cardan joint in the tube yoke. For propeller shafts equipped with a companion/slip yoke, repeat the steps to remove the remaining cardan joint.

- Tap outside of bearing cap with a drift to loosen snap ring.
- Remove snap rings from both sides of yoke.
- Position yoke with grease fitting if equipped, pointing up.
- Position a socket with a inside diameter large enough to receive bearing cap, beneath yoke on a press.

- With vehicle in neutral, position vehicle on hoist.
- Remove exhaust crossover pipe.
- Mark a line across axle companion flange, propeller shaft, flange yoke and transfer case for installation reference.
- Remove axle/transfer case companion flange bolts. Remove dust boot clamp from the C/V joint end of shaft if equipped.
- Remove propeller shaft.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Align reference marks.
- Install NEW axle companion flange bolts, coated with Loctite 242, and torque front propeller shaft axle companion flange bolts to 85 ft. lbs.

- Remove half shaft nut from shaft.
- Remove brake caliper and rotor.
- Remove steering knuckle.
