- Install new brake pads and attach shim to the outer pad. Tighten lower bolt to specifications.

If a malfunction occurs, the diagnostic system will identify the problem and the ECU will store the codes. At the same time, the system informs the driver of a malfunction with the ABS warning lamp.
INITIAL CHECK
Start engine and drive at a speed of 3-6 mph, then verify that the modulator is operating by listening for motor pump hum and solenoid clicking for 1 or 2 seconds. Procedure should be performed within first three minutes after start up. Solenoid valve and motor pump cycling takes place between 3 and 6 mph, as long as brake is not applied.

- Disconnect and cap brake line(s).
- Remove caliper attaching bolts and caliper assembly from steering knuckle.
Disassembly
- Remove sleeve, sleeve boot and pin boots, Fig. .
- Protect fingers with shop towel, then blow piston from caliper bore with compressed air.
- Remove piston boot, then pry piston seal from caliper bore using a suitable screwdriver.
Assembly
- Clean all components with suitable cleaner.
- Inspect caliper bore, piston and carrier for damage or excessive wear.

- Turn ignition switch Off, then connect Multi-Use Tester (MUT) to diagnosis connector in fuse box and cigarette lighter socket, Fig. .
