On Scoupe models, do not remove proportioning valves from master cylinder unless master cylinder replacement is necessary.
- Remove reservoir cap, drain brake fluid into a suitable container, then remove reservoir from master cylinder, Figs. through .
- On all models, remove snap ring while depressing piston with a blunt tool. If necessary, secure master cylinder in a suitable soft jawed vise.
- On except Sonata, remove primary and secondary pistons from master cylinder body. Do not disassemble primary and secondary pistons.

- Raise and support vehicle, then remove front wheel.
- Remove dust cover, cotter pin and driveshaft nut.
- Drain transmission oil.
- Disconnect lower arm ball joint from knuckle, then remove stabilizer and strut bars from lower arm.
- On models with driveshaft center bearing, remove bearing bracket attaching bolts.
- On all models, insert suitable pry bar between transmission case and driveshaft, then pry driveshaft from transmission. Do not pull on driveshaft and do not insert pry bar deep enough to damage oil seal.
