DRIVELINE, U-JOINT & CV AXLES REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR 1992 Mercury Capri AUTOMOBILES

CV AXLE SHAFT, Replace
Vehicle: 1992 Mercury Capri XR2 1.6 L4 GAS
- Raise and support front of vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
- Remove underbody covers, then remove stabilizer bar link from control arm.
- Using a suitable chisel, raise staked portion of axle nut, then with brakes applied, loosen but do not remove nut.
- Remove clamp bolt attaching lower control arm ball joint to steering knuckle, then pry downward on lower control arm to separate ball joint from steering knuckle.
- On models with manual transaxle, pull outward on steering knuckle and hub assembly to separate halfshaft from differential side gear. Use only enough force ...
