- Raise rear seat, then pry adjusting device apart.
- Insert a .08 inch feeler gauge between parking brake lever and stop on brake caliper.
- Screw locknut against adjusting sleeve until feeler gauge drops out.
- Apply and release parking brake lever a few times to settle adjusting device.
- Ensure clearance between lever and stop is .02-.08 inch.
- Lower rear seat.

- Remove screw plug from adjusting screw on back side of rear caliper, Fig. .

- Temporarily plug these lines to avoid loss of fluid.
- Disconnect brake/warning switch connector on filler cap.
- Remove the two nuts connecting cylinder to brake booster, then the master cylinder.

- Remove steering column trim cover.
- Remove ashtray, then the lower dash panel.
- Remove vacuum hose from booster.
- Remove wiring harness from booster.
- Disconnect brake lines from master cylinder.
- Temporarily plug these lines to avoid loss of fluid.
- Remove retaining clip and pin from linkage between brake pedal and pushrod to booster.
- Remove four bolts securing booster to bulkhead and pedal assembly.
- Remove booster and master cylinder as an assembly.

When the brake pedal is depressed, pedal pressure assisted by power from the servo unit pushes the input rod into the master cylinder. The input rod pushes the primary plunger up the bore which closes the cutoff port to the fluid reservoir. This creates pressure ahead of the primary plunger. This pressure also acts on the secondary plunger, pushing it up the bore and closing the cutoff port from the secondary chamber.
