- Visually inspect all related fuses and relays.
- Visually inspect underhood fuse block fuse.
- When only one cooling fan does not run, inspect cooling fan motor for mechanical binding or wiring to suspect cooling fan. If satisfactory, replace cooling fan motor.
- If either fan runs with ignition switch off, replace associated cooling fan relay.

- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove tire and wheel assembly.
- Remove six bolts and splash shield.
- Remove one bolt and ABS speed sensor (if equipped) from steering knuckle.
- Remove cotter pin and lock cap from wheel drive shaft.
- Insert a nonferrous drift through caliper opening into rotor fins in order to prevent rotor from turning.
- Remove wheel drive shaft nut.
- Remove cotter pin and nut from tie rod end.
- Remove tie rod end from steering knuckle using a suitable puller.
- Remove one bolt and two nuts from ball joint.

If lamp remains on, a code has been stored by the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) memory.
