Protect carpeting below the rear heater core from spilled engine coolant using suitable shop towels.
- Drain engine cooling system into suitable container.
- Disconnect heater hoses from heater hose tubes.
- Remove silencer from beneath driver side end of instrument panel.
- Remove heater core shield to lefthand end of HVAC distribution attaching screws, Fig. .

- Remove serpentine belt.
- Disconnect engine wire harness connector for compressor clutch coil from clutch coil pigtail wire connector from compressor.
- On models equipped with 3.3L and 3.8L engines, disengage retainer on engine wire harness compressor clutch coil removing from bracket at top of compressor.

If battery cable has been disconnected, the PCM must relearn a new operating strategy. Connect battery cable and run engine until operating temperature is reached. After engine warm-up, drive vehicle under various operating conditions until PCM has relearned new strategy.
