DRIVELINE, U-JOINT & CV AXLES REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR 2002 MERCEDES-BENZ E320 AUTOMOBILES
Includes CV axle, universal joint, and driveline replacement, for domestic and imported 2002 MERCEDES-BENZ E320 cars and light trucks from 1990+.
DRIVESHAFT, Replace -> FRONT -> REAR

FRONT
- Remove righthand side exhaust heat shield, Fig. .
- Remove propeller shaft mounting bolts.
- Remove propeller shaft.
- If rubber boot must be replaced, proceed as follows:
- Pull universal joint off propeller shaft.
- Remove rubber boot.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Coat splined shaft profile with Molykote grease, or equivalent.
- Push rubber boot with universal joint onto propeller shaft, ensuring markings align.
- Steady propeller shaft with suitable screwdriver when installing mounting bolts.
- Torque driveshaft intermediate bearing bolts to 23 ft. lbs.
