- Remove air cleaner and duct assembly.
- Drain coolant into suitable container.
- Recover A/C refrigerant.
- Loosen engine mount strut to engine mount strut bracket bolts.
- Loosen engine mount strut bracket brace bolts from upper radiator support bracket.
- Remove mounting bolts on radiator upper support and position engine mount strut and bracket to rear.
- Remove underhood electrical center and position aside.
- Disconnect battery positive cable and remove battery hold-down retainer.
- Remove battery from engine compartment.

- Disconnect vacuum hose from brake booster and reposition.
- Remove air cleaner cover and intake tube.
- Disconnect throttle and cruise control cables. Disconnect throttle and cruise control cables from TBI mounting bracket to prevent bending cable housings.
- Remove transmission fluid filler tube.
- Reposition heater core inlet hose clamp at inlet heater pipe.
- Remove hose from inlet heater pipe.
