Air Conditioner and Heater Service Includes module configuration procedures, general service, maintenance, automatic temperature control, compressor services, electric cooling fans, vacuum diagrams, specifications, and manual air conditioning and heater diagnostics and replacement procedures for domestic and imported 2002 Toyota Highlander cars and light trucks from 1990+
Import Compressor Service -> Nippondenso Compressor -> Compressor Clutch, Replace
Vehicle: 2002 Toyota Highlander 2.4 L4 GAS
- Remove shaft nut or bolt, Fig. , with aid of spanner wrench.
- Remove pressure plate using pressure plate remover.
- Remove shims from shaft.
- Remove rotor (pulley) retaining snap ring using suitable snap ring pliers.
- Remove rotor (pulley) by gently tapping it with plastic hammer. Some compressors may require a jaw puller.
- Disconnect stator lead wires from compressor housing.
- Remove stator retaining snap ring using suitable snap ring pliers, then remove stator from compressor housing.

- Remove radiator fan and condenser fan.
- Remove radiator upper mountings.
- Disconnect refrigerant lines at condenser, then cap all openings. Discard O-rings.
- Remove condenser upper mounting, then move radiator to engine side and condenser to radiator side.
- Remove condenser mounting bolts and the condenser.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- If condenser is replaced, add 1.4 oz. of new refrigerant oil to compressor.
