- Place ignition switch in Lock position.
- Disconnect and isolate battery ground cable.
- Wait at least two minutes after disconnecting battery ground cable before doing any further work on vehicle. The air bag system is designed to retain enough voltage to deploy air bags for a short time even after battery has been disconnected.

Propeller shaft removal is a two-man operation. Never allow propeller shaft to hang from the center bearing, or while only connected to power transfer unit (PTU) or rear driveline module flanges. A helper is required. If a propshaft section is hung unsupported, damage may occur to the joint, boot, and/or center bearing from over-angulation. This may result in driveline vibrations.

This Emission Maintenance Reminder System (Maintenance Required Lamp) is incorporated into the engine controller. The controller stores vehicle mileage into its memory every eight miles, then at 60,000, 82,500 or 120,000 miles it will light the EMR (Maintenance Required) lamp. When the indicated mileage is reached or the EMR lamp is on at all times, the following components must be replaced and the EMR lamp reset:
