Wheel bearing must not be burdened while 12 point nut is loose.
If wheel bearing is burdened by weight of vehicle, wheel bearing will be pre-damaged. This will diminish wheel bearing service life.
If it should be necessary to move a vehicle whose drive axle has been removed, before doing so install an outer joint in place of drive axle and tighten it to 11 ft. lbs., or else wheel bearing will be damaged.

- Pull off intake hose connector and hose from mass airflow sensor.
- Remove bolts and air filter housing.
- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Remove fuse holder cover.
- Remove fuse holder mounting bolt, then pivot fuse holder, with fuses still connected, rearward away from battery.
- Disconnect battery positive cable.
- Remove heat shield cover, if required.
- Remove bolt, retaining bracket and battery hold-down bracket.
- Disconnect central gas vent hose from top cover, if required.

The Service Reminder Indicator (SRI) alerts the driver when a vehicle service is needed. The system uses a hard permanent type memory which will not erase if the battery is disconnected.
This reminder appears in the odometer display window. When the ignition is turned on, the following displays will appear for about 3 seconds: IN 00, no service required; OEL, 7500 miles/6 month engine oil change; IN 01, 15,000 miles/12 month maintenance and inspection; IN 02, 30,000 miles/24 month maintenance and inspection.
