- Raise vehicle.
- Remove exhaust system as of flange connection.
- Detach reinforcement brace.
- Detach front exhaust shielding plate from exhaust shielding plate above center muffler.
- Remove exhaust shielding plate above center muffler in area close to tunnel.
- Detach front reinforcement brace.
- Only loosen bolts of propeller shaft intermediate bearing.
- Disconnect front propeller shaft at transmission.
- Detach rear propeller shaft from rear axle center assembly.

CV AXLE SHAFT, Replace -> Front -> Intermediate -> Rear

Front
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove front wheels.
- Unscrew hexagon collar bolt on front axle shaft.
- Detach lower engine compartment paneling.
- Press supporting joint out of steering knuckle.
- Press tie rod joint out of steering knuckle.
- Move steering knuckle out of supporting joint.
- Turn back of steering knuckle outwards and then pull outwards, while moving front axle shaft out of front axle shaft flange. Do not damage boots of front axle shaft and of supporting joint. If required, to loosen front axle shaft screw in hexagon-collar bolt again a few threads and drive out front ax...

- Remove righthand sensor, downstream of TWC.
- Match mark front propeller shaft relative to flange of front axle gear and to flange of transfer case.
- Detach front propeller shaft from flange of front axle gear.
- Detach front propeller shaft from flange of transfer case.
- Remove propeller shaft from front axle gear.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Torque flexible coupling to transfer case (M10) 108 in. lbs. (M12) 13 ft. lbs.
- Torque flexible coupling to front axle gear to (M10) 108 in. lbs. (M12) 13 ft. lbs.

- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove twelve-point collared nut from rear axle shaft.
- Remove rear wheel.
- Remove right muffler.
- Remove exhaust pipe at flange.
- Remove rear axle shafts from connecting flange To prevent wheel bearing damage vehicle must not be moved on its wheels with rear axle shaft removed.
- Bring rear axle shaft into a position which is roughly horizontal, push together and remove downwards at an angle from connecting flange.
