Disassemble
- Clean outside of master cylinder thoroughly. Drain brake fluid from master cylinder into suitable container.
- Remove stop bolt and pressure control valves.
- Pry up and remove reservoir from master cylinder body.
- Remove fluid control valve.
- Depress primary piston and remove snap ring from retaining groove at open end of bore.
- Remove primary and secondary piston assemblies from master cylinder. If secondary piston does not come out, apply air pressure to secondary outlet port to remove.

- Remove center hub cap from wheel.
- Loosen hub nut.
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove front wheel and tire assembly.
- Remove hub nut and washer.
- Remove front brake anti-lock sensor harness from clip.
- Remove and position front brake anti-lock sensor aside.
- Remove and discard lower ball joint nut.
- Remove lower strut support nut and bolt. Discard nut.
- Using suitable tools, press ball joint stud until it is loose in knuckle.

- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Rotate or lift belt tensioner arm, using a suitable tool to relieve tension from drive belt.
- Remove accessory drive belt from alternator.
- Remove mounting nut, then position engine control sensor wiring and hose bracket aside.
- Loosen alternator pulley nut and remove inboard upper alternator mounting bolt.
- Loosen outboard upper alternator bolt.
- Disconnect electrical harness connector and output terminal wiring.
- Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.

This lamp should light when the ignition is turned On. After engine starts, the lamp should go off, unless a fault condition is detected in the powertrain system. If the lamp remains On a diagnostic trouble code is stored in the PCM. Following diagnosis and repair, the Powertrain Malfunction Indicator will automatically reset when stored diagnostic trouble codes are cleared from PCM memory. The PCM reset procedure allows the scan tool to command the PCM to clear all diagnostic trouble codes.
