TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM PROCEDURES FOR 2008 Ford Expedition AUTOMOBILES
Description, component locations, reset procedures, relearn procedures, diagnosis and testing, wiring diagrams, component replacement, and identification of vehicles equipped and not equipped with tire pressure monitoring system for most domestic and imported 2008 Ford Expedition cars and light trucks sold in the U.S. from mid 1990's+.
Description
Vehicle: 2008 Ford Expedition EL Limited 5.4 V8 GAS
The TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitor System) has the ability to monitor the air pressure of all five tires. The tire-mounted pressure sensors transmit signals to the TPMS module by using the valve stem as an antenna. These transmissions are sent approximately every 60 seconds when the vehicle speed exceeds 20 mph. Th...

Reset Procedures
Vehicle: 2008 Ford Expedition EL Eddie Bauer 5.4 V8 GAS
The TPMS will warn the vehicle operator of a severe low or high tire pressure condition. This system uses radio frequency pressure sensors which monitor pressure in all tires including the spare. The sensors transmit tire pressure readings to the TPMS receiver module which then transmits the tire pressure status to the Message Center. If tire pressure is severely low or high the Message Center will display a Warning Tire Very Low, Check Tire Pressure or Check Spare Tire Pressure warning. After correcting tire pressure, proceed as f...

Removal
Tire pressure sensors are manufactured in multiple colors based on their application. When installing a new sensor, make sure the color of the sensor being installed matches the color of the sensor that was removed. The different colored sensors are not interchangeable, Fig. .
- Loosen the wheel and tire assembly lug nuts.
- Raise and support the vehicle with jack stands.
- Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
- Position the wheel and tire assembly on a suitable tire changing machine as follows:
- On a paddle type tire machine, position the valve step at 12 o'clock or 6 ...

Vehicle: 2008 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 5.4 V8 GAS
TPMS Sensor Activation
To conserve battery power, the TPMS sensors will go into a sleep mode after approximately 30 minutes of inactivity. The sensors will not transmit tire pressure information while in sleep mode. The sensors must be activated to transmit the latest tire pressure information.
- Place the ignition switch in the On position.
- Position Ford TPMS activation tool, or equivalent, against the LF tire side wall 180° from the valve stem.
- The TPMS activation tool will flash a green light and sound a beep for each successful response from a TPMS sensor.
- Press the TPMS activat...
