- On Mystique models, open lefthand storage compartment.
- On all models, remove five screws retaining instrument panel steering column cover to instrument panel. Remove instrument panel steering column.
- Disconnect vacuum hose harness from vacuum control motor.
- Loosen two nuts retaining vacuum control motor to A/C evaporator housing.

- Use small cape chisel to carefully raise staked portion of front axle wheel hub retainer.
- While applying brakes, loosen but do not remove front axle wheel hub retainer.

- Loosen drive belt idler pulley nut.
- Loosen idler pulley adjusting bolt until there is enough slack to remove A/C compressor drive belt.
- Remove A/C compressor drive belt from drive belt idler pulley.
- Clean and inspect belt surfaces of all pulleys.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Torque drive belt idler pulley nut to 27 to 38 ft. lbs.
