- Remove lug nut and wheel and tire assembly.
- Carefully raise staked portion of front axle wheel hub retainer by using a small cape chisel and a hammer.
- When loosening front axle wheel hub retainer, lock wheel hub by applying brakes. Remove and discard front axle wheel hub retainer. Front axle wheel hub retainer must never be reused.
- Remove stabilizer bar link from front suspension lower arm to ease separation of ball joint from ball joint clamp.

This lamp should light when the ignition is turned On. After engine starts, the lamp should go off, unless a fault condition is detected in the powertrain system. If the lamp remains On a diagnostic trouble code is stored in the PCM. Following diagnosis and repair, the Powertrain Malfunction Indicator will automatically reset when stored diagnostic trouble codes are cleared from PCM memory. The PCM reset procedure allows the scan tool to command the PCM to clear all diagnostic trouble codes.
