Bleeding the hydraulic control unit (HCU) is only required when removing or installing the HCU or master cylinder, or when opening the lines to the HCU. Carrying out the system bleed function drives trapped air from the HCU. Subsequent bleeding removes air from the brake hydraulic system through the bleeder screws.
- Connect suitable diagnostic scan tool.
- Access "System Bleed Function." Go to Tool Tab-Chassis-Braking-ABS Service Bleed and follow directions on scan tool.
- Manually bleed brake hydraulic system as outlined under "Manual Bleed."

Index-mark both driveshaft flanges.
- With vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
- Remove and discard front driveshaft-to-transfer case bolts. Do not reuse constant velocity (CV) joint bolts. Install new bolts or damage to vehicle may occur.
- Remove and discard U-joint flange bolts. Do not reuse bolts for rear U-joint flange or damage to component may occur. Install new bolts.
