- Position field coil on compressor front cover; ensure locator pin on rear of coil aligns with indentation on front cover.
- Attach coil lead wire to compressor front cover retaining clip, then connect wire to thermal limiter switch.
- Install field coil snap ring with beveled side facing outward, then slide pulley onto compressor shaft.
- Install pulley snap ring with beveled side facing outward, then place a .10 inch stack of shims on compressor shaft.

- Raise and support vehicle, then remove front wheel and tire assembly.
- Remove caliper to steering knuckle attaching bolts.
- Remove caliper from steering knuckle by rotating free end of caliper away from steering knuckle, then slide opposite end of caliper out from under machined abutment on steering knuckle. Support caliper on upper control arm. Do not allow it to hang on flex hose.
- Remove front brake rotor, then the outboard pad by prying the pad retaining clip over raised area on caliper, Fig. .

- Loosen, but do not remove, stub axle to hub/bearing retaining nut while vehicle is on floor and brakes applied, then raise and support vehicle and remove front wheel and tire assembly.
- Remove brake caliper and support aside, then the brake disc.
- Remove tie rod end attaching nut, then the tie rod end stud from steering knuckle using remover tool No. MB-991113, or equivalent.
- Remove vehicle speed sensor cable routing bracket.
- Remove cotter pin and castle nut from stud of lower ball joint at steering knuckle.
