Esteem
- Place front wheels in straight-ahead position.
- Turn ignition to Lock and remove key, then disconnect battery ground cable.
- Remove Air Bag and "IG" fuses from junction/fuse box, Figs. through , located under lefthand side of instrument panel.
- Remove lefthand upper steering column cap, then unlock and disconnect driver's air bag module yellow connector.
- Open glove compartment door, then push stoppers on lefthand and righthand sides and remove glove compartment.
- Disconnect passenger's air bag yellow connector.
- Allow 90 seconds for SDM...

Inspection
The hydraulic lines of this brake system are based on a diagonal split system. When a brake line or hose is disconnected, bleeding operation must be performed at both ends of the line disconnected.
Prior to bleeding brakes, both front and rear displacement cylinder pistons must be returned to the top-most or home position. Motor re-home cannot be performed if current diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) are present. If DTC's are present, vehicle must be repaired and DTC's cleared before performing the motor rehome function. - Raise and support vehicle and remove wheel.
- Place a suitable container under transaxle and drain transaxle oil.
- Remove locking hub (if equipped).
- Remove drive shaft circlip.
- Remove stabilizer ball joint nut.
- Remove tie-rod end castle nut. Then disconnect tie-rod end from knuckle.
- Remove caliper bolts.
- Remove caliper from disc, and suspend with a wire hook.
