- Start engine and inspect booster vacuum hose connections for leaks.
- Stop engine and shift transmission into neutral.
- Pump brake pedal until all vacuum reserve in booster is depleted.
- Press and hold brake pedal under light foot pressure. Pedal should hold firm. If it falls away master cylinder is faulty.
- Start engine and note pedal action. Pedal should fall away slightly under light foot pressure, then hold firm.
- If no pedal action is felt, the power booster, vacuum supply or vacuum check valve are faulty. Proceed to "Power Booster Vacuum Test."

- Raise vehicle on hoist.
- Remove wheel and tire assembly.
- Remove cotter pin, nut lock, spring washer and hub nut from end of outer C/V joint stub axle.
- On models equipped with ABS, disconnect front wheel speed sensor and secure harness out of the way.
- Remove nut and bolt retaining ball joint stud into steering knuckle.
- Separate ball joint stud from steering knuckle by prying down on lower control arm. Use caution when separating ball joint stud from steering knuckle, so ball joint seal does not get damaged.

The TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System), monitors air pressure in the four road tires. Pressure in the spare tire is not monitored. The system will consist of tire pressure sensors attached to each wheel through the valve stem mounting hole, a WCM (Wireless Control Module) and a TPMS telltale lamp.
